MICRONEEDlING
Microneedling, also known as Skin Needling
or Collagen Induction Therapy
WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING?
Microneedling, also known as Skin Needling or Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) is a cosmetic medical procedure that involves fine sterile needles that create tiny unnoticeable punctures to boost your skin’s production of collagen and elastin. Microneedling is a great alternative to fractional laser, IPL, or chemical peels without the pain, downtime, expense, and thermal damage.
The idea behind microneedling or collagen induction therapy is to induce the body’s response through the formation of new tissue layers resulting in elastin and collagen fibers. This procedure is similar to other non-surgical skin tightening procedures with the advantage of avoiding thermal injury that can occur from other laser treatments. With the addition of elastin and collagen fibers, new capillaries are also formed improving the skin’s blood supply and overall youthful appearance.
Microneedling acts as a stimulus to reduce the appearance of acne scars, wrinkles and fine lines, hyperpigmentation, rosacea, melasma and rough skin texture resulting in radiant plump skin. This technique can be utilized with the delivery of topical drugs and biological materials depending on the condition being treated. Microneedling ensures that the topical drug and nutrients penetrate more readily into the skin producing undeniable results.
